We need to cover the core costs of our current be-friending project and enhance the service.
About this cause
CNCA are the only charity set up as an umbrella charity in the Borough of Croydon. One of our main services is our be-friending service - we identified a gap in our borough and began to befriend lonely and isolated elderly people, through texting, to weekly telephone calls, weekly visits, this has expanded rapidly and now we have two part time members of staff at our capacity. We now work very closely with Adult Social Care, with complex elderly clientele. We have attended GP,MDT’s,Safeguarding reviews, but we have built lovely relationships with very vulnerable individuals, enabling them to remain safe at home, and improved their quality of life, we believe we help to keep someone in their own home longer than what they would if they didn't have our service and friendship.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Our Befriending service, is now a year old, we identified a gap, and secured funding for a year and are a few months in. It provides a level of tiered cover which does not currently exist in the borough to help the isolated, vulnerable and lonely elderly community who are in need of friendship, kindness and day to day help with appointments, purchasing of house-hold items etc.
