About this cause

We raise funding for the Hermitage and Oaktree Schools based in St Johns, Woking. Our main aim is to provide a little extra money in order to enhance the education of our children while they attend these schools. This year we are raising money to erect a canopy at The Hermitage School to enhance their outdoor learning space and to develop the Forest School at The Oaktree School. We feel this is a fresh way of teaching and would benefit a lot of children, especially those that have learning difficulties and struggle with the classroom environment. Children and young people are stimulated by the outdoors and we believe it will help increase their self belief, confidence, learning capacity, enthusiasm, communication and problem-solving skills as well as their emotional well-being.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Our outdoor facilities will help families make changes to the way they live and work. They will be able to learn new attitudes for improving our planet’s limited resources & the long term consequences of their actions whilst learning to respect the natural world. This will have an impact on the way they engage with local community.Opening our site to local groups will also encourage others to learn
