About this cause
Maerdy Youth is a constitution within Calofan Maerdy. Maerdy Youth supports young people to identify and respond to their needs by using informal, but essentially educational programmes that contribute to their lifelong learning and wellbeing. It seeks to engage the disengaged, raise their ambitions, facilitate and celebrate achievement, promote respect, responsibility and care for their community. The members supported to become effective citizens through appropriate activities and their involvement in decision-making within the organisation and the communities in which they live. We open 3 days a week, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. Wednesdays focuses on problems that young people face, Thurs focused around sports and nutrition and Sat is for young people with disabilities.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Canolfan Maerdy and Maerdy Youth are always actively seeking for ways to improve the community, member of the community are always getting involved in our fund raising events, such as the summer fates and pen y fan climbs, we also offer opportunities for training with the young people such as first aid, food hygiene, and there is plenty of opportunities to volunteer to help the youth club.
