About this cause

From its roots as a crisis pregnancy centre, Care in Crisis has grown and developed into a community based counselling service and exists to offer caring confidential counselling support to all those who could benefit from it. We counsel children and young people, adults, couples and older people who refer to the Centre for a range of issues: stress & anxiety, depression, anger, relationships, bereavement, pregnancy related issues including post-abortion, suicide and self-harm, trauma and self-esteem. We receive around 500 referrals a year and offer over 2000 counselling sessions. I coordinate a team of 31 counsellors who volunteer their time, 7 admin volunteers and 2 other staff. We would love to offer addition counselling hours specifically for clients who have experienced Trauma.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Processing trauma with a trained professional can help build self esteem and provide tools to lessen the symptoms of depression/anxiety, the client is helped to regulate strong emotions and developing ability to trust again impacting family/society positively.
