About this cause

We support brain injury survivors, their families & carers on a lifelong basis. Many long term cognitive/emotional effects are hidden/not well understood so survivors struggle to have their needs met which often causes social isolation and poverty, which we aim to overcome. Our weekly free drop in provides inclusive social contact & respite in a friendly, understanding environment: members and their carers can relax supported by their peers & our volunteers. We host regular outings and social/fundraising events including residential activity and city breaks, often our members' only chance of a holiday. We give free welfare benefits advice and help accessing medical & social care. We provide taxis to/from our centre and other essential appointments and highly subsidise our outings.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Many members experience behavioral challenges so community contact can be negative. The confidence & skills our members gain will help them to access the community so to better manage encounters and to contribute positively, their mental health & general well being improves, the respite their families gain allows them to rebuild resilience to equip them for their daily/lifelong challenges .
