About this cause

The Commons Association main aims are to promote for the benefit of the public the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment of Bowden Down and Liddaton Down, Brentor, Devon. To advance the the education of the public in the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment of the Brentor Commons. Since 2004 we have been restoring a very neglected habitat(lowland Heath) with very limited resources, help from volunteers and small grants. Both pieces of land harbour a very diverse range of flora and fauna which has been documented by Plymouth University. It has open access for the public and we have held various events for schools, and residential homes I am the Land manager, coordinating conservation work and events.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The community use the commons for many reasons, walking , riding, dog walking, birdwatching . It has a very high wildlife value which attracts many species of birds, butterflies, mammals, bats, wild flowers . It is a haven bounded by fields which do not have open access or promote wildlife. This work will enhance the area , attract more flora and fauna and encourage more people to use it all year
