We want to buy beds, food, collars, toys, disinfectant, a microchip scanner and medicine to help dogs in desperate need.
About this cause
Forever Hounds Trust works tirelessly for the welfare and rescue of greyhounds, lurchers, whippets and other sighthounds; our vision is a day when all of these dogs are free from risk or need. These wonderful hounds desperately need our help, often having been abandoned, taken to dog pounds, or in the cases of racing greyhounds, retired from the tracks. We do this by rescuing and homing dogs - over the last twenty years we have found loving forever homes for over 9,000 dogs across the country. We are also a strong voice for improving sighthound welfare, and recently gave evidence to a government inquiry on racing greyhound welfare. We have a long-standing presence in Bedfordshire, where we are applying for your support - 48 dogs from kennels in the county found homes here last year.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We homed 48 dogs in this region last year, transforming both dogs' and humans' lives - as dogs contribute hugely to human happiness! We aim to show as many Bedfordshire families the value of homing a rescue greyhound or lurcher, as possible. We also offer opportunities for volunteers to get involved with the charity and make a difference to the lives of these wonderful dogs.
