About this cause
We offer high quality professional counselling & related advice for over 1000 bereavement individuals & families who are often vulnerable, lonely, isolated and destitute, every year. We assist everyone, regardless of status, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation or disability. Our services are provided by a suitably selected, trained team of over 40 volunteer counsellors and supervisors. Our objectives are to:- -relieve suffering & mental ill-health; -prevent the need for hospital admission or out patient treatment; -empower bereaved people to live better lives; -improve emotional & physical ailments & thus prevent detrimental behaviour; -work with health & social service personnel, teachers & other professionals; -provide training & education for others who care for the bereaved:
How this cause brings people in the community together
Bereavement can cause many social problems- isolation; loneliness; family breakdowns; addictions; mental problems; physical ailments; crime & sometimes suicide. Many do not want 1-1 counselling due to stigma & lack of understanding of talking therapies. Being in a group of like minded people really helps in communication and social cohesion. It'll enable people to help each other in our community
