We want to rebuild the Seer Green scout hut so we can have better and warmer facilities.
About this cause
Seer Green Scouts has supported local children for over 40 years, currently we have Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Venture Scouts (Explorers) groups. The Scout hut plays an important role for all the scouting units as well as junior rugby, ballroom dancing, children's parties, exercise classes and other activities. It's a very well used community resource. Parents say Scouting gives their children more confidence, responsibility, a broader set of friends, and a chance to pursue things they might not get to do otherwise. But the hall is showing its age. Rain no longer drips through the ceiling - it pours and the whole building is now in urgent need of total refurbishment. The cost of the building work needed is £250,000. We have raised over £135,000. We still need to raise £115,000.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The new hut will enable the scout groups to have better and warmer facilities, currently the local brownie group is unable to use it as it is so inhospitable. The improved facility will enable us to use the hut for a broader group of people than use it today. Local facilities are fully utilized and the rebuilt hut will provide an additional village facility for multiple groups to regularly use
