About this cause

St Giles Trust has been supporting homeless and disadvantaged people in South London for over 50 years, providing practical support around a range of issues including homelessness, offending, employability and family support. We aim to break the cycle of disadvantage and offending. Our award wining Peer Advisor programme puts service users at the heart of what we do and 30% of our paid staff are former service users. Our Outliers project uses volunteers with lived experience (our Peer Advisors) to provide intensive support for people with complex needs who are multiply disadvantaged in South London. Typically these are people with mental health, drug and alcohol and offending histories who have been banned from mainstream services including housing.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Reduce crime - our 'meet at the gates' service had a return on investment of £10 for every £1 invested in St Giles Trust, and reduced re-offending by 40%. Together we will provide a long-term saving to society. Help people excluded from other services - we are able to help people with multiple and complex needs who are often known to multiple services but not actually benefiting from them.
