About this cause

For 35 years Cancer Support Scotland has provided emotional and practical support on a one-to-one basis, and through community-based groups to anyone affected by cancer, including family members, and carers. Our team of 27 volunteer counsellors, 10 complementary therapists, 1 podiatrist and 13 volunteer receptionist/meeters and greeters, help us provide counselling, complementary therapies, stress management, podiatry, hand and nail services, information and support to people through one of the most difficult times they may ever experience. All of our services are free, so cost is not an additional worry for those who need them. Our service aims to improve both mental and physical well-being, to reduce loneliness and isolation, and to positively affect cancer outcomes.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The Cancer Support Centre is a lifeline for those living through the challenges of a cancer diagnosis, including those who love and care for the patients. We are conveniently located for public transportation and our services are free. We have a direct pipeline for referrals and best practice sharing between other local cancer charities such as Macmillan and Beatson, and the NHS.
