Health
We will provide a weekly seated yoga class and, if affordable, other activities that improve health and well-being in our community.
About this cause
We are a charity providing services and activities for the residents of Calverton, a rural, ex-mining village, and the surrounding areas. Our aim is to improve the quality of life for the community. For example we run a twice weekly Job Club, weekly Advice surgery, one to one counselling, family legal advice, hearing, chiropody and sight clinics, dementia carers group. We run classes in a range of subjects from creative courses like card making and flower arranging to languages and computer qualifications. We run well-being and health activities eg seated yoga and chair based exercise, alternative therapies and personal development classes. A large proportion of our clients are elderly who wouldn't meet people otherwise. It reduces loneliness and isolation. Volunteers find a new purpose
How this cause brings people in the community together
It will improve the health and well-being of the community and reduce loneliness and isolation and improve community social cohesion. The local medical practice already refers people to us who they think will benefit from exercise and getting out in a supportive environment.
