About the Project
Withington is at the heart of our work - many of the young people we support live here, we work closely with local schools and families, and many of our mentors are uni students. Citywise brings together people from across the community, of different backgrounds and generations, who together make it possible for young people to lead flourishing lives and make positive contributions to society
About the Charity
It’s a shocking truth that, due to current levels of educational inequality, 50% of pupils receiving free school meals achieve no passes at GCSE above a D grade. Citywise is a mentoring charity that provides personalised (one to one), intensive (every week) and long term (up to 10 years!) support to young people who may struggle to fulfil their potential due to a variety of reasons. We focus on providing good academic support and especially on encouraging positive character development so that young people become the best version of themselves. Through our unique approach to character mentoring, young people gain the tools to succeed not just in their academic careers, but in all areas of life: relationships, aspirations, emotional resilience and others.
