We need to pay for mandatory supervision for 15 voluntary professional counsellors.
About this cause
We offer affordable counselling to the Community via out two centres. The Olive Tree is operated by a charitable trust and relies on donations and income from clients to be able to offer its services. We expect clients to contribute something towards their counselling but if they are unable to pay anything we will never turn away genuine cases of hardship. All our counsellors are professionally trained and give their time voluntarily. We offer in-house training and student placements. We offer a confidential listening and counselling service helping a client to explore and work through situations in a supportive, non-judgemental environment, so that they may live with more confidence and enjoy a more fulfilled life.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We find throughout our local community mental health issues are becoming more prevalent. We see more children needing support, couples coming more often which indicates the need for our services. To facilitate the service our voluntary counsellors are required to have Mandatory supervision at an approx cost to The Olive Tree £3,500 pa. There is no doubt this benefits the Community as a whole.
