About this cause

We are a First School with 180 children from 4 to 9 + nursery We would like to create a garden to build home/school links with pupils, parents/carers and staff. To make the garden to encourage use from a range of groups; class lessons eg science, topic, maths, Reception eg Forest School, Explorers, Nursery, gardening club, parent/carers/grandparents. To ensure accessibility and convenience, by designing the garden around a well-equipped shed serving as a hub. To encourage a connection with nature and the environment, through education about processes such as composting, recycling and upcycling. To develop food growing skills and linking these to cooking and healthy eating, including activities such as harvesting, cleaning, preparing salads etc, cooking food, vegetable cakes etc.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Creating an inclusive gardening space to encourage pupils, parent/carers, local people to come together to create a working garden. Create a gardening interest group from the community. This will create home/school/community links. Volunteer helpers from the community would be involved in sharing their expertise in building, gardening, cooking etc. Educating a healthy generation of children.
