About this cause

The Invisible Friends use their power of singing to raise awareness of invisible disabilities in young people between the ages of 8years to 30 years old in the hope of getting an earlier diagnosis resulting in a better quality of life for young people with invisible disabilities. We travel the midlands and perform at various events in order to raise awareness. All of the members either have an invisible disability or support someone who does. I am the voluntary manager of the group and my 26 year old daughter, who has several invisible disabilities, is the founder and a trustee of the charity. We meet every Friday evening to rehearse for our gigs. These meetings also provide a support group for the young people. Some of the young people before they join have no support network/friends.

How this cause brings people in the community together

We can raise vital awareness of invisible disabilities which in time will improve the quality of lives for young people affected. We will see the integration of our younger community irrespective of invisible disability, visible disability and the non-disabled. Having our own mini-bus will mean that all the young people can perform at all events withiut having to help cover any hire costs.
