Shipston Rainbows
Young People
We want to hold an Open Day to show the community what rainbows do and organise more educational outings.
About this cause
We have a max of 15 members at a time, girls aged 5-7 living in Shipston & surrounding villages. We have weekly meetings + go on lots of outings. Rainbows learn by doing – they get their hands dirty, do arts and crafts and play games. Being a Rainbow is all about having the space to try new things. Through taking part in a range of different activities with girls their own age, Rainbows develop self-confidence and make lots of new friends. Its great as a Rainbow Leader to see an often shy, tongue tied 5 year old girl arrive at her first meeting hanging on to her mum's skirts but who then develops into a confident 6 & 7 year old able to think for herself, work in a team to solve problems, voice her own opinions, form new friendships, consider & help others while having fun.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Confident, caring young girls can only grow up to enhance their community as a whole. Plus Rainbows learn how different people contribute to the their town - ie we've organised recent visits to our meetings from fire fighters, first responders, food bank organisers etc and this continues to be important part of our plans for 2018/19 & beyond
