About this cause

The Fun Hut is a playgroup for babies and preschool children that runs 3 times per week and attracts a regular attendance of at least 35 local families each year. It has been a registered charity since 1971, run by a parent-led committee. It is the only support group for young families living in the rural village of Strathblane. It has the unusual added benefit of two employed play leaders, who oversee the sessions, and deliver structured activities for the older children away from their parents/carers. This provides the opportunity for them to develop their independence, which is especially valuable as they approach nursery age. Whilst children play, carers (parents, grandparents, childminders and nannies) are able to establish social networks and access mutual support and advice.

How this cause brings people in the community together

This project will benefit around 35 families in the Strathblane area. It will increase the preschool children's awareness of their natural environment. It will also promote exercise and healthy living, through encouraging families to take part in activities outside. These things will have a positive impact for future generations, in both our community and local environment.
