About this cause

The St.Blazey town clock was erected on the church tower in 1972 by public subscription and is a useful and relied upon facility. Until 2010 it was maintained by the local council but this ceased and it has now fallen to the community through the church to pay for any repairs. The striking mechanism has been broken for 18 months and the cost of repair is about £2,250. The church is not responsible for the clock and is not in a position to fund the required work. The community miss the clock striking and have voiced their concerns. Funding has been unsuccessfully sought through local grants and the Town Council. St.Blazey has a long association with the Co operative society going back 100 years and it is with hope that I submit this application for your consideration.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The clock striking has been proved to be a comfort to the elderly and those living alone as well as being a reminder of the time to the community. Many people have stated that they miss the clock striking especially when they are out and about in the town or in their gardens.
