Think Amy Education Programme
Education & Skills
We want to deliver our programme of safe driving educational talks to students aged 16-24 in schools and colleges in Somerset and Devon.
About this cause
Think Amy is a safe driving charity. It was founded by myself, Jane Hofmeister, after my daughter Amy was killed, whilst riding her bike on a pavement in broad daylight, by two drivers racing at high speed in Taunton. She was just 13yrs old. We provide educational presentations to 16-24 yr olds at schools & colleges, currently focusing on educational establishments in Somerset & Devon Our aim is to educate new and young drivers about how to drive safely and on the consequences of dangerous driving, and thereby help to prevent unnecessary road deaths. As the charity grows and develops, our intention is to take this education programme nationwide.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The talks are aimed at educating new and young drivers to drive safely. This is about preventing avoidable death or serious injury on the roads. The local community will benefit from having young drivers who are more aware of why safe driving is so important, it will also give them a reason to want to drive more safely and better understand how to drive safely.
