About this cause

Street Pastors is an inter-denominational Church response to urban problems, engaging with people on the streets. Yeovil Street Pastors started patrolling the town centre streets in April 2009 as part of a national team first pioneered by Ascension Trust in 2003, which continues to grow throughout the UK and across the world. We are volunteers from Christian congregations working as a team to be a caring presence and a listening ear to people who may need it, helping people to stay safe whilst they are out on Friday & Saturday nights in Yeovil. As trained volunteers, we have a concern for our community and operate in teams to help people (especially younger adults) feel safe at night-time venues and provide caring assistance where necessary.

How this cause brings people in the community together

We listen, care and help the people - especially younsters - out on the streets of Yeovil at night time every Friday and Saturday throughout the year. The police and club venue door staff recognise and are thankful for our help. They see us as part of the night time team.
