We need funds to take young people off road motorcycling, reducing crime and enhancing education prospects.
About this cause
Rev and Go is a unique youth work project offering off road motor cycling and maintenance in exchange for a contract. It rewards good behaviour, never offering bribes. Cotgrave, Nottinghamshire, is Rev and Go’s focus. Informal education and personal development assist young people. The Trust aims to increase skills, learning and self esteem. This helps to realise young people’s full potential by developing existing interests. It has reduced teenage vehicle crime to almost nil. Members have substantial ownership of their project, working together to manage day to day operations. They, for example, control the entry gate and punishments.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Young people make a contract “I as a member of Rev and Go will never ride illegally, otherwise I accept that my membership may be suspended or forfeit, after investigation by the members' committee and/or the trustees.” Any who break this contract may be expelled by their peers. They may seek re-election after an interview with trustees. Learning to honour contracts is vital as a life lesson.
