Health
We aim to buy and install two defibrillators for Uppingham.
About this cause
In 2017/2018 we aim to provide a further 2 community access defibrillators for Uppingham, Rutland to complete the town's network of defibrillators. The town of Uppingham is attempting to ensure that every resident lives within 500 metres of a defibrillator. The defibrillators will be bought from the Community Heartbeat Trust to ensure uniform standards and on-going support. Each unit will be contained in a weatherproof steel case locked by a combination lock and kept charged and dry by an electrical connection. The Rotary Club of Uppingham is already engaged in fund-raising for this project.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Access to defibrillators can be a life-saver particularly in a rural environment where the minimum travel time to hospital (and for ambulances/paramedic assistance) is over half an hour (excluding waiting times).
