Funding will help deliver a Trekstock Meet & Move day, delivering key physical activity workshops based on beneficiary needs
About this cause
Trekstock supports young adults as they live with, through, and beyond cancer. 34 young adults in their 20s and 30s are told that they have cancer every day in the UK. Thanks to advances in research and treatment, many of these will survive but at what cost? Too old for teenage and young adult care, but with mainstream cancer support services mainly catering for an older demographic, many of the psychological, social, health & well-being and information needs of this group go unmet. Trekstock exists to fill this gap, by providing social and practical support right across the UK. We aim to tackle social isolation, improve quality of life and provide young adults with the tools they need to live well through and beyond cancer.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Raising awareness of the charity's services among the local community and healthcare professionals, to reach more young adults in need, is a key objective. With London being a key focus area, the project will engage the community and educate Co-op customers to help generate awareness and grow the reach of our social support meet ups and exercise programme for young adults in the City.
