We want to improve recently acquired premises to create a new and dedicated base for the work we do with the young people of NLW.
About this cause
Business for Youth (BFY) is one of the best known Charities working in the town of Newton-le-Willows. Founded five years ago, we work exclusively with the young people of the town, organising a variety of artistic, cultural and sporting events and programmes. These are all offered free to the children meaning that we also are able to provide our services to socio-economically disadvantaged young people. Just some examples include our regular singing group (the ‘Newton Gobstoppers’) and a Craft Club which culminates in the children making small Christmas gifts to take and give to older people at local Care Homes during our ‘Big Carol’ evening. Our work has been recognized by others: we were winner of the ‘Pride of St Helen's Community Hero Award’ in 2015
How this cause brings people in the community together
BFY’s reputation and range of activities has grown and we are very keen that we can operate from a dedicated base (rather than individual’s homes!). The BFY base would become an obvious focus for meetings with local residents to determine their needs and wishes. There is also sufficient land around the unit for us to offer new activities. It will also remove an eyesore from the local area.
