We want to fund weekly parent café sessions in Whitlawburn/Springhall and Burnhill (two of Camglen's most deprived communities).
About this cause
Healthy n Happy is the community development trust for Cambuslang and Rutherglen (Camglen), a diverse urban area disproportionately affected by deprivation including a range of employment, health and income issues. Our key purpose is to tackle disadvantage, improving lives and communities so they are thriving, resilient and healthy. We are a community owned organisation, managed by local people and all our activities are steered by local priorities. Our Vision is to make Camglen the healthiest and happiest places to live in Scotland. Our Mission is to improve lives in Camglen by delivering and supporting community led initiatives which enable people to take an active part in ensuring their own, their families’ and their community’s health and wellbeing where they live, work and play
How this cause brings people in the community together
Parents increase knowledge, skills, self-esteem and ability to manage stress. They build strong relationships with their child, others parents and increase their social network. Strong bonding is highly evidenced as a key factor in enhancing life chances and positive social outcomes for children and parents. This improves their connectedness to others in their community and pride and behaviour.
