About the Project
The event will help raise the profile of science at grass-roots level, by showing the broad range of subjects embraced in that single word. How interesting and rewarding, the study of it can be. The questionnaire results will aid shaping their ongoing curriculum by incorporating some specific areas which the pupils themselves have identified. Science is key in this ever developing digital world.
About the Charity
Flintshire U3A has its own constitution, Officers, and 700 members. Membership is open to those in part-time employment or retired. Everyone has access to our current 78 Interest Groups (details on web site). We are all volunteers and our ethos is 'Friendship and Fun through Lifelong Learning'. FU3A is run by its members for its members. 7 years ago when I started a series of community outreach initiatives. This led to a number of Groups e.g 'Singing for Pleasure: Play Reading: Film Group, taking their activity into Local Authority Day Centres and Residential Homes to provide 'entertainment' for the users. We were fortunate in receiving Co-op Community Funding funding this April, which will see our African Drumming Group going into schools this autumn. We now want to build on that.
