We would like to widen our work with mental health sufferers, offering a safe, supported craft club for anyone facing issues and isolation.
About this cause
Long Eaton Art Room is a Community Arts Centre based in Erewash in the East Midlands. Our main aim is to provide an accessible friendly, affordable, supported, safe community space for anyone to participate in art and craft activities. To especially offer activities for people with mental health, physical and learning disabilities, elderly people, youth groups, young families and people not in education, employment or training that will improve their self-confidence, self-esteem, health and well-being and community cohesion. We offer creative drop in sessions and workshops to all members of the community. We also do outreach work running clubs and training sessions both in-house and externally often working with harder to reach groups from the most deprived areas.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We have ran similar projects in the past and we have seen wonderful results, people feel better in themselves, they make friends, feel less lonely and less isolated. Their confidence will grow as a result of creating things, they will have pride in their abilities and creations. They will receive therapeutic benefits of crafts, its a chance to make, chat and forget your troubles for a while.
