About this cause

We provide essential community facilities to groups in Starbeck. These include two halls with kitchen and toilet facilities. The halls are used by many community groups, from parent and toddler groups to lunch club for the elderly. Scouts, Guides and St. John Ambulance Badgers and Cadets meet here and the hall is home to weekly craft workshops for adults with disabilities. Children and young people can take part in tennis and dance classes and there are fitness groups for all ages. The refurbishment will provide a more comfortable and secure environment for all users. We aim to improve access for people with disabilities, to modernise the smaller kitchen and to improve security so that the halls are well looked after.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The facilities will provide a more welcoming and accessible space for groups. Users such as Starbeck in Bloom and St. John Ambulance promote citizenship, social responsibility and pride in the community. The halls host numerous sports and arts activities for children and young people whilst other groups provide care and support for the lonely, the elderly or parents of young children.
