About this cause
Erewash Community Transport is a registered charity, set up in May 1984 to provide accessible transport services for anyone unable to use public transport (for reasons of age, infirmity or disability) or for whom public transport is unavailable. Services are provided at low cost, enabling us to play a valuable role in the concept of integrated living within the Community. All services are door to door; passengers are collected from and returned to their home address, or specified destinations. Vehicles are available for use by a wide range of organisations including; Voluntary and Charitable groups, Health Authorities, Local, County, and Parish Councils, schools, colleges, scouts, brownies and special needs associations, any community based group may benefit from Community Transport.
How this cause brings people in the community together
These services have been proven in the 30 years of operation, to enable people to retain their independence and to not rely on any social care and/or families. Our passengers have built up friendship with other passengers, and class this as their own little community, they have the confidence of knowing the driver s for many years and are assisted to and from their homes with bags.
