About this cause

Stokesley Rotary Club enjoys working with young people in the community, particularly those from less privileged backgrounds. We already run the Rotary Young Carers Project (teaching young carers to cook) and the annual Rotary Fishing Competition (mainly for youngsters who have never had the chance to go fishing before), and we now plan to run a fishing competition for children of primary school age, in addition to the popular all-day event for secondary schoolchildren. This year we also want to expand our Rotary Youth Leadership Awards program for young people from Stokesley and the surrounding villages. Each year we select one or two 14-21 year old youngsters to take part in a residential course in Teesdale in which they learn team-working and leadership skills.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Stokesley Rotary Club already works with young people in the community, particularly those from less privileged backgrounds. We run the Rotary Young Carers Project (teaching young carers to cook) & the annual Rotary Fishing Competition (mainly for youngsters who are new to fishing). By expanding our program to Leadership Training we hope to help create leaders of tomorrow in our own community.
