About this cause
Home-Start Herefordshire (HSH) offers a unique service, recruiting & training volunteers who in turn offer support, friendship and practical help to families who are experiencing difficulties and problems and are under stress. We visit families where there is a child/adult with a disability or a parent suffering from a long-term illness or depression, they may be struggling with substance misuse, living in poverty or trying to rebuild their lives after fleeing abusive relationship. HSH objective is to offer informal, friendly and confidential support to parents with children 0-18yrs to enable them to grow in confidence, to strengthen their relationships with their children, and widen their links with their local community.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Parents will report increased engagement within their local community. BHBF volunteers will encourage, signpost and assist families in a practical way to access services and facilities, which will increase their involvement in their local community. BHBF volunteers will report increased life & employment skills through practical experience & training, becoming more confident, active citizens.
