About this cause

The Rainbow Centre, which is now approaching its 20th anniversary, provides a range of practical support to the Scarborough community – with a particular focus on supporting the homeless, those struggling with mental health issues, families in crisis and debt advice. We offer support and aim to uplift and encourage individuals and families – offering pragmatic help in an accessible and relevant way. The support offered during 2016 has included helping 2046 individuals, incorporating 11,288 general client support meetings. Furthermore Rainbow Money, established in 2009, provides support for individuals and families who are in debt. The project has proven to be a valuable community asset and supported 155 families in 2016 – supporting the effective management of £1.46m in held debt.

How this cause brings people in the community together

This will aid a deprived community to forge better partnerships, to take steps towards minimising poverty, to ensure that the individuals involved are taking measures to improve their lives and therefore improving the quality of life of those that surround them. The Rainbow Centre is a well respected charity within the local community.
