About this cause

Flower Pod is the horticultural social enterprise of Reach Learning Disability; a Nottinghamshire charity that supports more than 200 people with learning disabilities (clients) a week to gain the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to make a better quality of life. Flower Pod grows and sells beautiful cut-flowers to generate income for Reach. It also creates opportunities for clients to improve their physical health and emotional wellbeing through Social and Therapeutic Horticulture sessions. Clients take part in a variety of activities from growing and tending flowers to making confetti; all of which help to improve their practical, social and communication skills. Flower Pod's enchanting site is also a draw for local volunteers who want to help us make a difference to others.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Our project will support people with learning disabilities to feel better connected to their local community. Our team of local volunteers will make new community connections + benefit from an enhanced sense of wellbeing. Increased activities at Flower Pod will bring together people from community groups, businesses, churches, schools and Nottingham Trent University, to share and learn new skills.
