1st Amesbury Girls' Brigade
Young People
We need funds to celebrate 125 years of the Girls' Brigade with our local community through a programme of daily and one off activities.
About this cause
The Girl's Brigade is an essential resource to connect girls from lots of different local area’s in and around Amesbury, from multi-cultural backgrounds, and supports military families who find themselves with one or more parent regular serving away from home. Girl's Brigade offers families stability, and in some cases it is even welcoming third generations of local families to it. The voluntary leaders find themselves under continual pressure to raise large sums of money to keep this vital service going, without burdening the girl’s families with large unaffordable fees. Simply, it will allow them to concentrate on doing even more for the girls that form their Girl's Brigade family. Amesbury sits on the cusp of Stonehenge in Wiltshire. It is a deprived area for employment and for income.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Our aim is to help equip girls with life skills, networking and meeting new friends. We continually support the community and want to do even more e.g. singing at the old peoples home, Remembrance parade with readers, Carnival float & run annual teddy bears picnic, litter picking, our Queen's 90th birthday firework display, run community coffee mornings, services, fund raise & assist Mayor.
