About this cause

North Staffs Carers is a locally based charity which has been operating for 30 years and is wholeheartedly dedicated to supporting unpaid Carers age eight and above throughout North Staffordshire, offering a wide range of high quality services. Whether the individual supports someone over the phone once a week, or is a sole carer 24/7, the charity cares for them We operate from our Carers Centre in Duke Street, Fenton, Stoke on Trent and our support team visits Carers in their own homes across North Staffordshire offering guidance, information and support on the wide range of services and support available to unpaid Carers. Please see our website at www.carersfirst.com for further information on the charity and the type of support and services we provide free of charge to Carers.

How this cause brings people in the community together

In 2016/17 over 5000 Carers visited the Carers Centre. This remains a vital resource for unpaid Carers across North Staffordshire, many who experience a very demanding complex caring role. Unpaid Carers may also experience loneliness and isolation and the Carers Centre provides a meeting place where they can socialise, meet friends, feel connected and receive respite from their caring role.
