We would like to train and kit out three crew members of Kirkwall Lifeboat.
About this cause
We are the Dounby Lifeboat Guild. We raise funds for the RNLI in various forms. For example Bingo night, Sponsored Run and Quiz night. We try to raise approximately £5000.00 - £7000.00 each year through various fundraising events within our guild which consists of twelve members. All funds which are raised are deposited in a General Fund of the RNLI which is used to purchase and maintain lifeboats throughout the UK and equip the crew (who are all volunteers) with life-jackets protective clothing etc.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We are a group of islands surrounded by very turbulent seas and we are always dependent on these volunteers who give up their time and risk their lives in horrendous conditions.
