We want to provide an interactive activity panel with mirrors and sound for young patients and siblings at Bristol Children's Hospital.
About this cause
Above & Beyond is the local charity that raises funds for Bristol city centre hospitals. Our work touches the lives of more than 800,000 patients cared for each year, as well as the millions of friends and family who visit them, and the 9,000 dedicated NHS staff who care for them. We fundraise to create welcoming environments, fund innovative research, support staff training and development, and provide state of the art equipment. We have funded ventilators that breathe for the sickest of babies in our regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. We have also funded iPads for patients who have communication impairments following a stroke, enabling them to communicate with both family and staff.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Children benefit from being outside, getting fresh air, stimulating their senses, and playing with their siblings. An activity panel fixed at a low height would also be accessible to children in wheelchairs and those attached to drips. It will provide something unique for children with sensory needs who require activities that encourage movement, especially while waiting for therapy sessions.
