About this cause
Boys and Girls from 6-14 in Beaver, Cub and Scout sections. Group supports areas of the village classified as 'deprived' at the lower super output level. We provide a structured education programme promoting health, independence, community and environmental responsibility. Indoor and outdoor fun with Camps, Trips, Hiking, and various organised activities. We would like to actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The cuts in youth services imposed by local councils has lead to a severe lack of quality and affordable activities for children. The Scout Association has stepped up to this challenge and provides activities for 25% of the primary school population in the village. The Scout HQ is central to this and provides a safe and welcoming base to keep the kids off their phones/IPads for a few hrs.
