About this cause

Winscombe Community Association (WCA) owns and maintains the community centre in the parish of Winscombe & Sandford. The Centre is a focal point of village life and is regularly used by over 30 local groups from young to old, including the more vulnerable in our society, helping to support well being and social inclusion. These many groups include Toddlers, Youth Club, Age UK and Luncheon Club for elderly & lonely, as well as for Art, U3A, fitness groups, Bridge, Horticultural and a popular weekly Country Market etc. Our regular fund raising events are a great success and help keep the cost to these groups low.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The parish has about 4,000 inhabitants & the community centre is very well used, often with a waiting list of groups, some who have to look elsewhere due to the inadequacy or lack of facilities. Planned housing will exacerbate the position. The new building will fully address all this & is planned to be a vibrant & social centre, where everyone in the community feel it has something for them.
