We want to have an amazing headquarters for our young people, including new toilets and storage containers.
About this cause
We are a Scout group in Cottam. We currently have three sections, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, ranging from 6 yrs to 14 yrs. We have been offered a disused children's play barn as our headquarters. We currently meet in Cottam Community Centre but we have outgrown the building. Moving to our own headquarters means that we can open new sections to accommodate the youngsters in our community, open an Explorer unit, so when Scouts reach 14yrs more can stay in Scouting. Currently many leave scouting as they don't want to go to a unit where they don't know anyone. With new premises we need lots of new equipment, even the basics like table and chairs, plus storage containers, water boiler, toilets, large sink, meeting room. The room is huge so there is potential to have a climbing wall inside.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Opportunity for us to grow as a group, opportunity to get parents and supporters more involved in the group without them having to attend meeting nights. Many have already offered their services to bring the room up to a standard in which we can meet in. Opportunity to do events where we can advertise to the local community as a whole not just our members parents.
