About this cause

Carlisle Villa Boxing Club was formed in 1974 and has been providing boxing training to males and females for over 40 years. We conducted a survey to access the need among our members, parents and members of the wider local community. 60 respondents reported high satisfaction among users with the quality of the training the club provides. The gym currently run over 20 sessions a week for up to 80 individuals which includes boxing training, keep fit sessions for 5 years +, HIIT classes and women only boxing sessions this incudes a good cross section of the community. The biggest negative from the survey was the suitability of equipment for the women only and junior sessions. This project will help us provide equipment for these particular groups which would help in the retention of them.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The Governments recently published 'Sporting Future' a new strategy for an active nation highlights a new emphasis on how sport can have a meaningful impact on improving people's lives, focusing on areas including physical wellbeing, mental, individual development and social and community development. The club is well placed to deliver what is required to achieve this.
