About this cause

Runcorn and District Foodbank is part of a national network of foodbanks across the UK sponsored by The Trussell Trust. We are registered by the Charities Commission and have a Board of Trustees and a Management Team who meet regularly. Our clients are referred to us by many front-line care agencies, who identify people in need, and give them a voucher that they can exchange at one of our seven foodbank centres (covering Runcorn and the surrounding area) for a food parcel containing three days-worth of nutritionally-balanced food for the people in their household. The foodbank relies on the support of the local community through volunteering, food donations and fundraising. Almost all food is donated by the community through churches, schools, businesses, and supermarket collection days.

How this cause brings people in the community together

We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
