We want to install an information board on South Avenue recreation ground, which was given to the village as a war memorial.
About this cause
Spondon Community Association was formed in 1977 and aims to provide for the welfare of residents of Spondon. It acts as an umbrella organisation for other Spondon groups of all types. For this application, it is acting for Spondon Archive, a joint venture between the Village Improvement Committee (sub-committee of the Community Association) and Spondon Historical Society. It has published 11 low-cost booklets on the history of Spondon, with many more "in the pipeline".
How this cause brings people in the community together
It draw attention to a little-known piece of Spondon's history as well as honour the memory of the 103 local men who gave their lives in 2 world wars.
