We need to weatherproof and upgrade an existing structure in our school garden to use it as an outside classroom.
About this cause
The charity arranges and supports social and fundraising events for Meonstoke C of E School and the local community. The majority of funding goes towards enhancing the learning experiences of the pupils who attend the school but the charity also contributes to other local community groups such as Macmillan cancer. FOMS aims to advance the learning of all pupils of the school regardless of religion, ethnicity and background. It makes regular contributions towards school trips so all pupils can attend regardless of financial status and funds learning experiences outside of the core curriculum such as wildlife conservation. FOMS aims to help integrate parents both into school life and wider community, organising events which involve both groups and encouraging social responsibility.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The government has agreed that outdoor learning spaces are the way forward and that indeed this is what children actually request themselves away from the normal classroom environment. We regularly invite schools to share our learning environment and the wider community could use it for a meeting space. The intention is that it would inspire others to look after our environment.
