About this cause

We’re a standard brass band, a part of the community life of Easingwold and its neighbourhood. Founded in 1901, we play at local events throughout the year — fêtes and garden parties, parades, village fairs, weddings, charity events, theatre productions, brass band contests, Christmas functions and official occasions — with summer performances on the bandstand in Easingwold’s Memorial Park. We have started a beginners' group and a training band with a view to developing new players (adults as well as children) to join the Town Band and maintain its vigour in future years.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Our small market town is expanding rapidly. To help maintain its community identity and spirit, a long-established organisation like the Town Band can offer a healthy, challenging and locally-based leisure activity to counter the perceived risk that Easingwold may become little more than a dormitory for York and other centres of employment and leisure in the region.
