We wish to purchase training kit and equipment to properly support our growing girls, boys and women's sections.
About this cause
York RI is a community focused club which offers playing opportunities to all ages and genders. We have RFU Club Accreditation status. In the past three years we have worked in local schools to deliver coaching with the objective of inspiring children to join our club and participate in sport outside of school. We host senior schools rugby festivals for the York area. Our girls section is growing rapidly and we plan to run two sides this season. Our boys section continues to grow and will consist of three sides, all sides are organised by volunteers who are DBS cleared. Our Womens team was promoted last year and is attracting new players, many new to the game. We have two senior mens teams and plan to introduce a third as a result of work we have undertaken with York University.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We aim to provide low cost sports and social opportunities and the variety of activities offered at New Lane mean there is something for everyone regardless of age and gender. Not only do local residents benefit but it is local residents who volunteer to undertake most of the delivery. Our youth rugby gives a sense of ownership which helps reduce anti-social behaviour in the area.
