We want to purchase secure doors and shutters for the bike recycling centre and kitchen entrance at our community hub for disabled people.
About this cause
Bromley Mencap is a small independent charity that help and support disabled people of all ages, their families and carers. We do not receive funding from National Mencap. We provide many vital services which include a helpline, respote care, childminding and sitting network, buddying scheme for teenagers and young adults, days out, keep fit classes, day opportunities scheme for young adults, employment schemes which help to gain and retain job opportunities. Along with continued campaigning for the rights of disabled people and being a voice the people we support in the local area.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Young disabled people are twice as likely to be unemployed than their non-disabled counterparts. Through this project, young disabled people will have increased life, learning and employment skills and increased confidence and self-esteem to find suitable jobs, so that they can take part in mainstream society.
