Oak Tree Animals' Charity
Animal Welfare
We wish to develop a canine Sensory Garden, offering our dogs meaningful enrichment and maximising their chances of securing a loving home.
About this cause
Oak Tree Animals’ Charity works to improve the lives of the animals in our care, protect our local environment, and meaningfully benefit our community. We are the leading independent animal rehoming centre in Cumbria, and last year we supported over 900 animals. Our activities involve: • Rehabilitating and rehoming cats, dogs and horses • Providing outreach and education across Cumbria, working proactively to support our community and prevent animal suffering • Responding to hoarding cases, supporting animals and owners • Running Trap Neuter & Return programmes to support feral cat colonies • Protecting our environment and inspiring conservation • Offering a meaningful community resource, running our tearoom and shop, hosting regular events and offering volunteering opportunities.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Over 40% of dogs relinquished to our care are given up for behavioural reasons, and we also take in many animals who have been very isolated, or sadly even abused/neglected. This project will benefit our community by providing our animals with the best rehabilitation, confidence-building and training possible, ensuring local people can find the perfect new addition to their family!
