About this cause
Fuelbanks and families is an innovative charity helping families in crisis who are struggling with the cruel impact poverty has on family life. With warmth, consideration and respect, we deliver immediate solutions and longer term support. Fuel Support: FBAF is the first charity that can offer emergency fuel credit directly onto families’ prepayment meters. Families are referred to us through local foodbanks and a network of 220 referral partners, so parents can cook for their children and warm their homes. Advice Support: We offer a specialist debt, benefits and housing advice service to families who were previously unable to access such support. Family Support: FBAF can provide essential items to support children’s education - school uniforms, shoes, winter coats.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Without power the impact on families is far reaching a lack of cooked food for growing children, cold homes, lack of lighting for school work. Children living in cold homes are more likely to suffer from respiratory problems, take time off school due to illness, have lower weight gain and more hospital admissions as infants, suffer from mental health problems, have poorer educational.
